What is solar tracker

06 Jul , 2021

A solar tracker is a device installed with solar panels, directing the latter towards the sun. Trackers can not only maximise the capture of the sunlight but also increase the efficiency of the overall power generation process through minimising the angle of incidence – or the angle that a ray of light makes with a line perpendicular to the surface – between the incoming light and the panel.

There are two kinds of solar trackers: 1. The single-axis solar tracker, which rotates on one axis moving back and forth in a single direction; 2. The dual-axis tracker, which continually faces the sun since it can move in two different directions. This device can also be combined with other panel technologies like parabolic troughs, fresnel reflectors, solar panels, and lenses.
